“At album's end, McIntosh's “Another Secular Calvinist Creed" immediately arrests the ear with its unusual scordatura and its step-wise ascents and descents, the ten-minute performance one final testament to Walters's artistry." - Textura

Andrew McIntosh  Hyenas in the Temples of Pleasure

Picture
October 2014 Populist Records

The first full-length album of my compositions. The centerpiece of the album is my quartet for 2 pianists and 2 percussionists combining conventional and custom-built instruments, commissioned, performed, recorded, and mixed by New York-based group Yarn/Wire. The rest of the album consists of the Symmetry Etudes, a book of eight pieces for two clarinets and violin heard here for the first time in their entirety. The Etudes were written for and are performed by James Sullivan, Brian Walsh, and Andrew McIntosh, and are mixed and mastered by frequent collaborator Nick Tipp.

Also includes Marc's edition of Morton Feldman's unfinished Composition (1984) for solo violin. Available only on vinyl or as a limited edition digital download.

Tom Johnson  correct music

Picture
8/7/12 Populist Records

A mostly solo CD of mostly previously unrecorded music by minimalist composer Tom Johnson with guests Douglas Wadle and Brian Walsh.

“Andrew McIntosh's recording of the Rational Melodies is more virtuosic than the previous three, and he is the first to record Tilework for Violin, Tilework for Viola, Eggs and Baskets and Squares. If this CD of correct music is indeed ‘correct,’ this is not only because it is written with precise algorithms, but also because it is performed so carefully.” (Tom Johnson, August 2012.)
